Erie Brewing Company History

1993/1994
Erie Brewing Company was founded in October of 1993, it became operational in November 1994. Its original location was Union Station/Hoppers Brew Pub. It began with a manufacturing capacity of 1040 barrels, or 2080 1/2 kegs.

1996
The first company expansion. Increased manufacturing capacity to 2100 barrels, or 4200 1/2 kegs. It also added bottling capability.
 


1999
Company transition from Brewpub to regional brewery. The company also moved to a new location on Veshecco Drive. Thanks to the move, manufacturing capacity grew to 6,000 barrels, or 12,000 1/2 kegs, or the equivalent of 84,000 cases.

2002
Plans for the year are to double fermentation space and upgrade bottling and packaging. Sales volume is expected to increase to 5,300 barrels, that's almost five times the sales volume in 1999. Plans to expand distribution to Mid-Western, Mid-Southern, and Southeast PA.

2003
Future plans include expanding distribution to West Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. There are also plans for a building reconfiguration.
